چکیده

A hybrid rigid and non-rigid registration algorithm has been presented to register thoracic and abdominal CT images of the same subject scanned at different times. The bony structures are first segmented from two different time CT images, respectively. Then, the segmented bony structures in the two respective images are registered based on their boundary points using a soft correspondence matching algorithm, with a rigid transformation constraint on each bony structure. With estimated correspondences in bony structures, the dense deformations in the entire images are interpolated by a thin plate spline (TPS) interpolation technique. To improve the alignment of soft tissues in the images as well, a normalised mutual information based B-spline registration algorithm is used to iteratively refine the registration of soft tissues, and at the same time keep the rigid transformation for each bony structure. This registration refinement procedure is repeated until the algorithm converges. The proposed hybrid registration algorithm has been applied to the clinical data with very encouraging results as measured by two clinical radiologists.

بهبود سرعت "انطباق مبتنی بر روش برش گراف" جهت انطباق غیر صلب تصاویر تشدید مغناطیسی مغز

Image processing methods, which can visualize objects inside the human body, are of special interests. In clinical diagnosis using medical images, integration of useful data from separate images is often desired. The images have to be geometrically aligned for better observation. The procedure of mapping points from the reference image to corresponding points in the floating image is called Ima...

Optimized co-registration method of Spinal cord MR Neuroimaging data analysis and application for generating multi-parameter maps

Introduction: The purpose of multimodal and co-registration In MR Neuroimaging is to fuse two or more sets images (T1, T2, fMRI, DTI, pMRI, …) for combining the different information into a composite correlated data set in order to visualization, re-alignment and generating transform to functional Matrix. Multimodal registration and motion correction in spinal cord MR Neuroimag...

Compensation of brain shift during surgery using non-rigid registration of MR and ultrasound images

Background: Surgery and accurate removal of the brain tumor in the operating room and after opening the scalp is one of the major challenges for neurosurgeons due to the removal of skull pressure and displacement and deformation of the brain tissue. This displacement of the brain changes the location of the tumor relative to the MR image taken preoperatively. Methods: This study, which is done...

Non-rigid alignment of pre-operative MRI, fMRI, and DT-MRI with intra-operative MRI for enhanced visualization and navigation in image-guided neurosurgery.

OBJECTIVE The usefulness of neurosurgical navigation with current visualizations is seriously compromised by brain shift, which inevitably occurs during the course of the operation, significantly degrading the precise alignment between the pre-operative MR data and the intra-operative shape of the brain. Our objectives were (i) to evaluate the feasibility of non-rigid registration that compensa...

Hybrid Multimodal Registration of Carotid Magnetic Resonance and Ultrasound Images Using Free-Form Deformation

In this work, a hybrid approach for the multimodal registration of carotid magnetic resonance and ultrasound images is described. Multimodal registration is vital for integrating or fusing complementary information from different sources into a composite form. It will provide synergistic information about the objects under examination and thus, help in the assessment of carotid artery disease. ...
